the challenge
saviynt is a cloud-native, ai-driven identity governance and administration (iga) that aids organizations in securing access across applications, infrastructure, & more. working with the talented team at simple concepts, the mission was to bring complexity into animated video content: storyboards, vector ui recreation, & branded still frames across multiple productions.
the strategy
the process was to script evolution into the storyboards to promote saviynt's ai-powered identity security platform. low-fidelity storyboards were developed with annotated motion direction before any polished frames were created. pacing, visual hierarchy, how the ui elements move were all taken into account to showcase the storyboard stage and how to prevent expensive revisions later.
low-fidelity storyboard
low-fidelity storyboard
the first video conducted in the series of videos featuring saviynt. a script with a written direction of the flow of the video was provided then a low-fidelity storyboard was developed. responsibilities included converting client-supplied ui screenshots into clean vector artwork, developing a full storyboard with annotated motion direction, and creating branded still frames.

recreating ui as vector art
frames from the video that features clean vector artwork that showcases the brand's visual identity in motion. a core technical challenge across both productions was converting client-supplied ui screenshots into clean vector artwork suitable for animation. rebuilding the ui from scratch as vectors gave the animators (and saviynt's brand) much more flexibility. deliberate decisions were made about simplification: what ui elements were essential to the story the video was telling and what was not. enterprise software interfaces are complex and the videos needed to show enough detail to be credible without overwhelming a viewer who was encountering the product for the first time.

adapting to an evolving brand
the second production presented a specific challenge: saviynt was mid-refresh, moving toward a darker, more premium aesthetic. rather than waiting for a finalized brand system, the directional signals pointed towards darker backgrounds, more contrast, a more sophisticated color story and created the dark mode ui treatment as an interpretation of where the brand was heading.

the results
storyboard-first is always the right approach for motion work, even when there's pressure to skip to polished frames. with the storyboards providing a path, communication and collaboration from simple concept's team allowed for successful motion graphics to be produced for the public's eye.
